GIRLS AND BOYS SOCCER AND NETBALL

We have had an exciting season of soccer and our coaches believe that it was the most exciting season yet, as learners returned to the soccer field after a two year hiatus. The first team boys played against Bergview at Matatiele North end stadium in the annual Bergview soccer tournament. The soccer boys drew against Focused and beat Bergview B but were knocked out on goal difference. The next game was against KEHS on 15 September. KEHS took the lead halfway through the first half. St Monica’s boys then equalized in the second half but our hearts were broken late in the second half when KEHS scored a late goal.

St Monica’s first team Netball girls also took part in the Bergview tournament and showcased their passion for the game. The girls came first in the first round of the games beating both Matatiele Primary and King Edward High School. They went on to play the finals against King Edward where the girls conceded the game to King Edward High School. The girls took second position in the tournament. Special mention goes to the goal scorer for the netball tournament, Sinesipho Godlwana who was also the player of the tournament.

The U/13 soccer boys played a friendly match against KEHS on 13 September and the boys displayed great skill and thoroughly enjoyed their last match of the season.

The girls first soccer team also gave their all in their match against KEHS. We want to thank all the spectators, schools and parents for their constant support.
