On 10 January St Monica’s staff started the year off with team building activities at the Matatiele Golf Club, facilitated by Beach and Bush. Teams took part in a Go-Kart Construction Challenge and also had to test the go-karts on a racecourse as well. The Pit crew “bosses” guided the teams on how to design the go-karts using blueprints. The end result was enjoyed by all the staff as the team members were the “engines” that powered the go-kart. The teams were awarded points for team spirit, effective design, creativity, innovation as well as mobility and speed. A prize giving ceremony was held where the winning team was awarded certificates and medals.
Staff were encouraged to focus on wellness especially during the Covid pandemic. Tracy Rawlins explained the different activities that staff need to prioritise in order to ensure they do not burn out in 2022. It is important that staff feel valued, are encouraged and supported by the school.
