ST MONICA’S DAY

Wednesday, 4 May 2022 was dedicated in honour of the patron saint of the school, St. Monica. The month of May appropriately also sees us celebrate Mothers’ Day. St. Monica is known for being a praying mother. She dedicated a large part of her life praying for her wayward son, Augustine, to turn from his sinful ways. She stood strong in her faith and never gave up.

We started our day’s programme with a Eucharist mass for Grade 8 to 12 learners, followed by a mass for the Grade 1 to 7 learners, led by the school chaplain, Fr Francis Mafunda. A few parents were able to join us at the services. Fr Mafunda shared with the school that praying mothers have a positive effect on their families and communities and he went on to share his belief that one of the characteristics of a successful mother, is one who prays. We hope that this month sees us focus on acknowledging all that our mothers do for us.
